Cannondale has a rich history in the modern era of bicycle production and manufacturing industry, beginning with the introduction of the bicycle trailer in 1971 and introducing its first bicycle, a touring model in 1983. In 1984, Cannondale added a road racing model and a mountain bike model to its line, giving the cycling world a first look at handcrafted aluminum frames much lighter and more flexible than standard steel frames.
Today, Cannondale bicycles are well known for innovation and cutting technology. Working with professional cyclists on racing teams and mountain bike teams, Cannondale continues to bring new ideas to cycling and its road racing Cannondale bikes have won multiple stages at the Tour de France, more than two dozen stages at the Giro d'Italia, two Giro d'Italia overall victories, a Professional World Championship title, and two Italian National Championships. Cannondale sponsors a few professional cycling teams, including Team Liquigas, with Ivan Basso, one of the world’s top cyclists.
In recent years, Cannondale has evolved to be a leaner and green company, with a new motto – “The Fight.” The fight to be different and to do the right thing drives the company to strive to be the industry leader in performance, innovation and superior products.
If you are familiar with Cannondale bicycles, you’ll be excited about what the company has in store for 2011. Using the design and engineering skills of German frame designer Peter Denk, Cannondale has three great models to showcase – a lightened up Scalpel racer, a reintroduction of the Jekyll mountain bike and a 29” version of the Flash carbon hardtail.
The 2010 Scalpel from Cannondale was already light, but the 2011 bike offers a drastically redesigned chassis that only weighs about 3.45lbs. This racer is still nearly all carbon, but Cannondale has made a few other changes like replaced the front triangle with a sleek tube to tube design.
The other big innovation from Cannondale bicycles this year is a new 150mm-travel Jekyll. Calling it an “Over Mountain” bike, the company claims that it offers dramatically improved climbing AND downhill performance in one. Working with Fox Racing Shox, Cannondale has created a Key dedicated pull-style shock. Called the Dyad-RT2, the new system is literally two separate shocks that are tied together with a central sub body. The new Cannondale Jekyll Ultimate is designed for the rough stuff, but still offers a light chassis. As a bonus, Cannondale also plans to offer a ladies version of the Jekyll – the Scarlet.
Love the flash? The 2011 Cannondale bike series also offers updated to the 29"-wheeled version of the feathery Flash carbon hardtail. The Flash Carbon 29 frame is a big-wheeled copy of the company's ultra light 26" Flash. Look for all-new alloy versions as well.
Whether your goal is going faster or climbing higher, when looking for Cannondale NJ you will find the bike at Hart's Bike shop!
